About MCPA - The Facility, Staff, Programs, & Opportunities!
Mid-Atlantic Center for the Performing Arts is a 9,000 square foot, state- of-the-art dance training facility for dancers of all ages and abilities. Boys and girls, ages 2.5 through adult, grow into confidant performers through our comprehensive, professional training program.
The Facility
- Five spacious studios with barres, full length mirrors, state of the art sound systems, and sprung floors with "marley" surfaces
- Observation windows in all studios
- Retail dancewear store carries all shoes, leotards, and other dancewear students need - as well as gift and boutique items
- Plenty of well-lit parking
- In-house performance space - complete with stage lighting
- Convenient locker rentals available for students
- Designated homework spaces and computer station for students
The Staff
- Friendly, caring teachers for all ages and levels
- Faculty members that commute from NYC every weekend to provide cutting edge choreography and classes for advanced students
- Our teachers have trained students who have been awarded numerous top honors in the National and International arena in both ballet and comtemporary styles
- Over 100 years combined experience on the MCPA staff
The Programs
- Fun and exciting Creative Movement and Kinderdance classes for ages 2.5-5 - discovering the joy of dance while building a solid foundation for the future
- Combination classes for ages 5-7 ~ pre-ballet/jazz/tap classes are convenient and FUN!
- Classical ballet training program for ages 7 and older
- Pre-professional five day per week program for serious ballet students
- Career/guidance counseling program for all students beginning in eighth grade
- Competition Team for students interested in competing locally in jazz, lyrical, and tap
- Hot Shots National Dance Team, a nationally recognized team for advanced students who compete in jazz, lyrical, and tap - ranked among the best dance teams in the United States
- Private lessons and coaching available in all subjects
- Master Classes with guest teachers from all over the USA
- Dancecamp and Summer Intensive programs offered in June, July, & August
The Opportunities
- Spring Gala performance opportunity for all students - gorgeous costumes, professional dance floor, & experienced lighting designers ensure that all dancers have a chance to shine
- Private coaching for National and International Ballet Competitions
- Personalized, individual scheduling allows for flexibility, maximum growth, and focus in certain subjects for students, if they so choose
- Student choreography showcases for older students
- Annual full-length professional Nutcracker performance, complete with Nationally and Internationally recognized guest artists
- Travel opportunites for members of either competition team - across the US and abroad
- The convenience of a nationally recognized jazz and contemporary program in the same location as a classical ballet training school
- Contemporary concert performances for our non-profit MCPA Dance Ensemble members
- Scholarships available for graduating seniors
